Typical Day in the Montessori Classroom

8:15-8:30 Children arrive and begin classroom work until opening line.
8:30 During opening line, children exchange a "good morning" song , say a morning prayer, discuss the day's activities and new materials are presented.
8:50-10:50

Children begin to select their own work.
•  Teachers work with individuals or small groups.
•  Children work together or alone.
•  Children prepare a nutritional snack as part of the curriculum.

10:50- 11:25

Clean-up time.
Children go to the line for music and games.
Storytime, finger plays, poetry and outdoor play

11:30 Dismissal of half-day children
11:45 Lunch for full-day students in classrooms to foster Daily Living activities.

Afternoon activities for:

4 year olds
Quiet time
