Miss Kathleen Colletto
In 1975 I came to Carlow College (now Carlow University) as a senior from St. Paul Cathedral High School (currently Oakland Catholic). I was enrolled in an Art class for 1 semester to get a "taste of college". I enjoyed the experience, applied, and was accepted to Carlow. Although I was leaning towards a degree in Art, my advisor suggested going into Education.
I did field placements at St. Paul Cathedral Grade School, St. Agnes and Immaculate Conception (all local schools). I did my student teaching at the Campus School with 1st and 2nd grade. I was hired by Sr. Mary Paul Hickey, founder of the school, 2 days after my college graduation.
I taught 1st and 2nd grade for 12 years and was coordinator of the Primary Department for 6 years. Next, I was hired to work at the Children's Center (now the Early Learning Center) in the School Age Program which became the Afterschool Program. The program quickly outgrew it's space and was moved to the Campus School.
I have been a substitute teacher, tutor and camp counselor, and have worked in the office for many years. Within the Extended Day program, I've been a Head Teacher, Coordinator, Supervisor, and Director. I am serving in my 25th year as Director of Extended Day as I celebrate my 41st year at the Campus School!
