Elementary Education Responsive Classroom
Mrs. Darla Grant
I am thrilled to be working for Carlow Campus School as the Elementary Librarian. Here is a little bit about myself: I am a proud graduate of Carlow University. I was a substitute teacher for the Pittsburgh Public Schools as well as Carlow Campus School. I taught first grade for the Pittsburgh Public Schools and elementary library. I am the youngest of my siblings. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I have 3 nieces and 1 nephew. I believe school libraries are a critical component of student learning in the 21st Century. The library is the heart of the school and it is so rewarding to be able to work with all students & teachers from various grades. The library is a place for learning & discovering within the context of our standards and beyond. I love helping students research effectively both in print and online. I love leading the way for students to discover the love of independent reading. I am looking forward to a fun filled year! Some of our highlights include a special visitor from the Carnegie Library reading aloud the Children's Choice Award Books! Also, we will be introduced to some new authors & begin to dig into their series. On March 29th we will host the Storybook Cake Contest! Some of my hobbies include: traveling with my husband Bill, various activities with my church, attending NBA basketball games, planting flowers, shopping, reading of course and trying new restaurants.
