Third Grade Newsletter

“Coming together, sharing together, working together, and succeeding together...”

Café/Daily 5: This week we began sharing the celebration of Advent with everyone on our floor.  Each day, a different grade is responsible for the readings.  We had a great dress rehearsal of our Holiday Show with many Carlow students as our audience.  We were very excited to share this performance with our friends and family. It was so nice to see everyone there!

Math: Math- We made decorations for our Holiday Play and classrooms. We made Christmas trees, we picked a number for the star and then made the factor pairs the ornaments. We also made snowmen, we chose one number and made multiple equations/strategies to represent that answer. To end the week, we colored multiplication Christmas pictures.

Social Studies:  On Monday, Ms. Kathleen, from the fort Pitt Museum visited third grade. She did an awesome presentation about Native Americans.  Students got to touch actual artifacts and figure out what they were and what they were used for.  We even got to make our own Wampum Belts. We have also been sharing our native American Lapbook Reports throughout the week.  These students are very knowledgeable about their tribes.  They are even discussing similarities and differences, many of which relate to the geography of their tribe.
